Career Talk for Female Students of the College of Law

INTRODUCTION

Established only five years ago, the College of Law, Afe Babalola University seeks to bring to bear in concrete terms the motto of the University in its students – labour, service and integrity- in the Students. Consequently, on the 9th of January, 2014, the Provost, College of Law organized an interactive forum, the second in a series, for 300, 400 and 500 level female students of the College of Law, Afe Babalola University. The focus was so constricted because the students are expected to multiply the effect/impact of the forum to other female students of the College.

ACTIVITY

A guest speaker was invited from outside the University, the person of Mr. Tope Michael Adedipe Esq., a seasoned legal practitioner, to deliver a talk. At the event, the Provost College of Law, Afe Babalola University welcomed the guest speaker and encouraged students to participate actively in the forum.

The guest speaker in his speech outlined the role and dignity of the woman in the society. He urged female students to imbibe the values of discipline, hard work, decency and the fear of God in all they do in order to make the society a better place. The event was very interactive, with students making valuable contributions and raising salient questions like, ‘is marriage a sole determinant of who a successful woman is?’.

In giving the vote of thanks, Mary Adeyemo, a 300 level student suggested that the opinion and culture of students who were from various backgrounds should be respected. She also prayed that more of such events be organised.
